Zoë Kanan grew up in Houston, Texas as the by-product of a culinary paradox: a Pitmaster father and vegetarian mother. She discovered baking as a familial neutral territory and her passion was born. 

In 2018, Zoe joined the Happy Cooking Hospitality team as Head Baker for Simon and The Whale, Studio and the George Washington Bar at the Freehand NY where she oversees the production of all pastries and bread. Her creations have been praised by The New York TimesEater, and Grub Street with a recent spotlight in Vogue as one of three women “changing the way we think about bread.”
